1. Program Description

The Tuscaloosa Police Department Employment Recruitment SMS Program (the “Program”) sends automated text messages to individuals who have voluntarily opted in to receive updates about job opportunities, hiring events, application status, testing schedules, and guidance through the hiring process with the Tuscaloosa Police Department. This is a non-commercial public service communication program.

2. How to Opt In

You may opt in to receive SMS messages by visiting the recruitment page at https://jointuscaloosapd.com/recruitment/, completing the interest form, and enabling the “Allow SMS” toggle before submitting. By submitting the form with the SMS toggle enabled, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from the Tuscaloosa Police Department at the mobile number provided.

The consent language displayed on the opt-in form reads: “With the above toggles enabled and submission of this form, I agree to receive SMS updates from Tuscaloosa Police Department about recruitment.”

By opting in, you confirm that you are the owner or authorized user of the mobile number provided and that you are at least 18 years of age.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your position in the hiring process. You may receive up to 5 messages per month. Messages may include notifications about written test registration, next steps in the hiring process, prescreen questionnaires, and point-of-contact introductions.

Message and data rates may apply. Please check with your wireless carrier for details regarding your text messaging plan. The Tuscaloosa Police Department does not charge for this service.

5. Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message sent from (205) 409-9483. After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent unless you re-enroll. 7. Supported Carriers

This Program is supported by all major US wireless carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others. Carrier availability and message delivery may vary. The Tuscaloosa Police Department is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Types of Messages Sent

Examples of messages you may receive include:

• “Thank you for your interest. The first step in the process is to register for the written test. You can do that here: [link]”

• “For all interested candidates, we have a 3-question prescreen questionnaire. Please fill it out here: [link]”

• “Thank you for submitting your information. We would like to introduce your direct point of contact for next steps.”

9. Privacy & Data Use

The Tuscaloosa Police Department collects your mobile phone number solely for the purpose of sending employment and recruitment-related SMS communications. We will not sell, rent, or share your mobile number with third parties for marketing purposes. Your information is used exclusively for this Program and is managed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at the link provided on the opt-in form at https://jointuscaloosapd.com/recruitment/.

10. No Warranties

The Tuscaloosa Police Department provides this SMS Program as a public service on an “as-is” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery of messages and are not responsible for transmission delays or failures caused by your wireless carrier or third-party services.

11. Modifications

The Tuscaloosa Police Department reserves the right to modify or discontinue this Program at any time. Material changes to these Terms and Conditions will be communicated via SMS or updated on our website.
